Timothy B. Alexander (Tim) started his law enforcement career in May of 1996 as a temporary dispatcher hired by Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. In 1997 after completing his temporary assignment Tim was hired as a part-time dispatcher for the Montevallo Police Department. While at Montevallo Tim earned a full-time dispatch position and worked as a jailer. He later earned a position as a Reserve Police Officer where he paid his way through the police academy. January 1, 1999, Tim was promoted to the rank of police officer.
In November of 2001, Tim was hired again by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. There he served as an Explorer Advisor, a member of the Honor Guard, a Criminal Investigator and a member of the Tactical Response Unit. In August of 2016, Tim left Shelby County to return to Montevallo Police Department to serve as their Task Force Agent assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration Birmingham District Office. He served in the role with DEA until January of 2013, after being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Three years later in September of 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Captain.
On June 1, 2018, Tim was appointed as the Chief of the Police and Director of Public Safety at the at the University of Montevallo. He holds a Master of Justice Administration Degree from Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL and is currently pursing his Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management at Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, AL.
